I almost never do a photography year end review blog post anymore. I never ever get one up before mid-January. This year though? This year has been both the most and the least, and after 6 countries, 12 states, 21 weddings, 14 events, 18 family sessions, 8 commercial projects, 15 portrait sessions, 12 engagements, 5 boudoir sessions, and then a camera-free December so I could manage prepping for/having/recovering from surgery, it’s been really great to sit back today, December 31st, and look at what all I’ve done professionally this year.
From ringing in the new year at a burner party in Richmond to seeing out 2023 on my couch in Baltimore, this year has been one hell of a ride. There were boats and cats and passports. There were author portraits and newborn sessions and commercial events. There were elopements and engagements and one-year dating anniversaries. There were oh so many sunsets. Is it possible to have too many sunsets? I hope not because I’m not stopping. There were drag shows and burlesque events and circus arts. There was boudoir photography and there will be a lot more of that in 2024. There was pinball and comic book signing and a Friday the 13th wedding complete with Jason Voorhees cosplay. There was…a lot.
It can be easy to focus on what’s next and forget to celebrate everything that’s already been done. Putting this post together was such a neat way to look back through my year and remember exactly how much cool shit I was able to do in 2023. Thank you to all of the amazing clients and friends who’ve made art with me this year. I can’t wait to see what 2024 looks like 🙂
