Eclectic Multicultural DC Wedding

Ever met a couple that’s so fiercely passionate and vibrantly alive, they light up the entire room?

Meet Liz, an effervescent Korean American Jewish educator and author, and Christian, a Mexican culinary maestro and hospitality savant.

If I were to encapsulate their love story in a single frame, it would be a whirlwind of zoomed-in laughter, long-distance romancing, and a shared love for making the world a better place, including their passion for serving their communities.

Just before the pandemic hit, these two met while volunteering for World Central Kitchen, dishing out meals in the face of natural disasters and humanitarian crises. According to Liz, they navigated falling in love long-distance when she returned to Los Angeles and Christian to DC after their new romance began.

The pandemic might have put the world on pause, but these two? They were determined to write their love story in bold, underlined letters, pandemic or not. Having to move to Facetime dates and lots of time to get to know each other, their love story finally leapt to the next level when Liz moved back to DC, her hometown. What are the odds, right?

But they were the best kind of match.

Christian knows how to paint a picture with words and flavors alike. He’s a kaleidoscope of mouthwatering dishes, hearty laughter, and passionate advocating for migrants. From whipping up a storm in the kitchen to standing by Liz’s side in their fight for social causes, this man’s got layers – like a fine lasagna!

Our radiant bride, Liz, a teacher, author, and activist by profession, is the embodiment of inspiration with her relentless commitment to education and activism. Just one peek into her life and you’ll see this woman is all about transforming young minds and shaping a better future. She’s an eclectic mix of thought-provoking knowledge, charming anecdotes, and powerful calls to action with a huge dash of fun and lots of heart.

On a crisp autumn day last Fall, Liz and Christian gathered 120 of their nearest and dearest to celebrate their union.

The venue of choice? Maketto in Washington DC- A place as eclectic and vibrant as their personalities. The setting was a smorgasbord of cultures, colors, and cuisines; a living testament to their diverse backgrounds.

Liz, the ever-dynamic educator, effortlessly commanded the room, her energy infectious. Christian, with his innate hospitality, made everyone feel at home. The wedding was a beautiful blend of traditions, a true reflection of their multicultural backgrounds. The air was heavy with love, laughter, and the tantalizing aroma of Christian’s special menu.

The highlight of the day was the couple’s vows – each word resonating with their shared passion for activism and education. They promised to continue making the world a better place, together.

I can’t wait to see how she and Christian continue to make waves and stir up some good trouble. Their wedding day was a testament to their extraordinary tale of love and shared passions. I’m incredibly grateful for the privilege of photographing their wedding, and I wish Liz and Christian a life filled with joy, compassion, and countless shared meals.
